Historic Speedwell's 2nd Annual Fashion Show: "Mrs. Vail’s Closet"

To be a wife of Stephen Vail took style, grace and ingenuity. Enjoy a 19th century fashion show featuring reproduction wardrobes of the three Mrs. Vail’s of Historic Speedwell.

Cost: $6 adults, $5 seniors, $3 children 4-16, under 4 are free.

Three shows: 11:30am, 1pm and 3pm.

Friends of Historic Speedwell Friends of History Awards Reception

The Friends of Historic Speedwell honor area residents who have shown a dedication to the preservation of Morris County's rich historic past. This year, the event honors Kirsten Hotchkiss, Past President of Historic Speedwell and James Barry, President of the Washington Association of New Jersey. Proceeds from the event will benefit Phase II of the exhibit on the Telegraph and the development of telecommunications in the National Landmark Factory Building at Historic Speedwell.

History on Wheels

Participate in a guided bicycle tour on Patriots' Path connecting Historic Speedwell and Fosterfields Living Historical Farm. On the way, learn about the ruins of the Speedwell Iron Works near Speedwell Lake. Please bring your own bike and helmet, along with a bag lunch and beverage for a picnic. Recommended for ages 13 & up.

Death and Mourning

Death and Mourning

The Vail home at Historic Speedwell becomes the setting for a traditional 19th century funeral. Follow the horse-drawn hearse to the Vail home, and learn about the funerary customs of the time. This historically accurate event brings groups through the Vail home every hour on the hour throughout the evening.

Cost: $6/adult, $5/senior, $4/children ages 4-16, free for chlidren under age 4
