    This camp offers an opportunity for older campers to continue to get out into nature with a week of guided, educational hikes around northern Morris County. Each day the group explores a different park through hiking and team-building activities. Campers may also experience swimming, horseback riding, canoeing, a ropes challenge course and, on the final day, a game day and barbeque. Sign up for 1 or 2 weeks.

"Branching Out!"

    “Branching Out!” is the hands-on horticulture and gardening program for young people. Beginning on Saturdays in April through June, each gardener works in his or her own garden, planting, tending, and harvesting, as well as taking part in many other gardening, plant, and nature related activities.

    Children who continue into the summer session (July and August), garden twice weekly while learning about plants from garden to table through cooking, crafts, and other nature and horticultural activities. “Branching Out!” sessions are divided by age to insure that every young gardener has a fun and educational experience. Gardeners are welcome to register for one or both sessions.

CAMP SUNRISE LAKE

    Camp Sunrise Lake fills every camper’s day with new adventures, safe exploration, and active fun! This one-week camp located at Sunrise Lake, situated on over 1,000 acres of Lewis Morris County Park in Morris Township. Each day of camp is packed with a variety of activities for kids to enjoy! Explore the trails of Lewis Morris Park and discover the wildlife that lives in its woods and creeks. Campers play on the sandy beach of the beautiful Sunrise Lake and splash in the water. They have a blast running, jumping, sliding, and climbing across the Wibit, an inflatable obstacle course that sits on the lake.

    Kids also enjoy games of Quittich, parachute activities, paddle boat rides, relay races, and a day of food and fun when campers take a field trip to Mennen Sports Arena! Creativity and hands-on development is encouraged through daily craft sessions. Camp Sunrise Lake is designed to maximize the camper’s experience through exhilarating activities and individual attention. Limited to 50 campers, early registration is suggested.

FIGURE SKATING CAMP

  • Description

    This nine week camp offers all levels of skaters an opportunity to hone in on their skills and have fun! Choose the number of weeks to attend. Choose a full-day or half-day camp. Lunch options are also available. A nutritionist, former show skaters, and former Olympians take part in the camp.

    The “on-ice” portion of the camp allows skaters to develop their skills and progress to the next level. Sessions include Power Stroking, Creative Footwork, Jumps, Spins, Moves, and Artistry in Motion. The “Off-Ice” sessions include: Ballet, Jazz, Leaps n’ Turns, Yoga, Pilates, Circuit Training, Stretching, Conditioning, and Plyometrics.

    Private lessons are available upon request for both on and off-ice sessions. Beginner skaters are encouraged to take a private lesson for an assessment prior to the start of camp to ensure proper placement. Instruction for these classes are offered by Mennen’s elite coaching staff. Special clinics are incorporated into Camp Mennen, listed as Mennen’s Summer Seminar Series.

    Campers can take full advantage of the unique opportunity to take part in Mennen’s 8th Annual Summer Extravaganza. This is an ice show with a collaboration of Learn-to-Skate participants, Men and Ladies soloists, Pairs, Dance and professional staff.

ICE HOCKEY CAMP

    The 37th Annual Summer Hockey Camp focuses on skating and fundamental hockey skills including balance, agility, acceleration, the use of edges, puck handling, passing, and shooting. The goal of this camp is to lift the player to a more competitive level for a lifetime of fun enjoying the great game of ice hockey.

    The coaching staff is comprised of coaches from some of the top high school and prep programs in the east. Staff includes Pete Herms, Head Coach Seton Hall Prep; Rich McLaughlin, Head Coach Randolph High School; Brian Day, Head Coach Noble and Greenough School (MA); Jamie Plunkett, Head Coach Meadville High School (PA); Jennifer Perry, Power Skating Instructor; and Mike Valvano, Goalie Coach.

JUNIOR POLICE ACADEMY

  • Description

    The Annual Junior Police Academy is a popular camp that provides boys and girls lessons in police practices and the training involved in becoming a police officer.

    During this five-day program, activities include physical training, detective work, handcuffing techniques, motor vehicle stops, and tours of the county jail. Special guests have included the Mounted Unit, Sheriff’s Office, and other State and Federal Law Enforcement agencies.

    Each recruit receives a hat, t-shirt, gym shorts, and bag. Upon completion of the Academy, recruits participate in a graduation ceremony and earn an honorary Junior Police Academy certificate. Class size is limited to 50 participants.

    Registration begins after March 15.


Travels in Time Camp: A Child's Day

    During this four day history camp, young historians have the opportunity to learn what it was like to be a child in three different time periods by visiting Historic Speedwell in Morristown, Cooper Gristmill in Chester, and Fosterfields Living Historical Farm in Morris Township. Campers visit all three sites with this unique program and travel through time to the 1840s, 1880s, and 1920s to discover how children spent their day, depending on time period, gender, and social class.

    Campers learn about the fun William Baxter and Harriet Cutler had on the Homestead Estate at Historic Speedwell, what may have happened to Carlos and Mabel Rockefeller in Milltown at the Cooper Gristmill, and how Elizabeth Woods and Charlie Thompson spent their days on the 1920s farm at Fosterfields Living Historical Farm.
